Memorial Biography

Rebecca Rosalie Rios, “Becky”, age 52, passed away on Saturday morning November 30, 2019. Becky’s beautiful heart stopped beating that morning and her family and friends lost their beloved dancing queen. She was born on April 7, 1967 in San Diego, California, and she was a life-long resident of her beloved city, Chula Vista. Becky is survived by her children, Elizabeth, Cassandra and Frank Lopez, as well as her grandchildren Michael Anthony and Callie Josephine. In addition, Becky is survived by many friends and family that loved her and whose lives she touched deeply, including her partner, Antonio “Tony” Tirado. Becky and Tony’s love for each other was unique and profound. As a resident of Chula Vista’s Harborside neighborhood, Becky attended Harborside Elementary, Chula Vista Junior and Chula Vista High School. After high school, Becky earned an Associate’s Degree from ITT, as well as Paralegal certification from the University of San Diego. Becky worked for many years as a paralegal and was able to purchase her childhood home in 2004, a big accomplishment and something she was very proud of after she had gone through many life challenges. Becky was a survivor and a true champion over challenges in her young adult life. She triumphed and won the battle of which so many have not. The Casa de los Milagros organization was instrumental in helping Becky win that battle and it was an organization she cared deeply about and believed whole-heartedly in their mission and work. Becky loved her San Diego Padres and San Diego State Aztecs and traveled throughout the country on several occasions to watch games in several sports. Prior to their departure from San Diego, Becky was a huge fan of the San Diego Chargers and traveled far and wide with her sister, Laura “Bibi” Rios, to watch them play. In 2017, Becky was issued her US passport and went on a trip to her ancestral home in Ojos de Agua, Guanajuato, Mexico with her nieces, Tina and Theresa. This trip was very special for Becky as she was able to spend time in the home that had been lovingly restored by her mother, Josefina, and her sister, Mary. Becky returned in 2018 and was to be there again in December, 2019, just after her passing. A lover of music, Becky was known for playing the best music and knowing exactly what music would get a celebration started. She had a fun spirit about her and many would describe her as the absolute life of the party. The dancing queen to many, Becky absolutely loved to dance and not only start, but continue and end the party! Becky also loved oldie cars and attended and supported various local car shows. Becky was a parishioner of Chula Vista’s The Church of the Most Precious Blood for many years and her funeral mass will be celebrated there on December 14, 2019 at 10:00am. Following the mass, final inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego. A celebration of life will take place from 12-6pm at Benedict Hall, 250 Third Avenue, Chula Vista. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Casa de Los Milagros, San Diego dd
